THE NEW MUTANTS May Not See Theatrical Daylight And DEADPOOL’S Rating Is A Toss-Up

After Disney blamed its third quarter loss on its 20th Century Fox acquisitions including DARK PHOENIX many found themselves wondering if THE NEW MUTANTS which itself has gone through a number of reshoots, actually be released to the public. We now may have our answer.

According to a report from Variety,  Disney is highly  unimpressed with John Boone’s  The New Mutants, and believes it has “limited box office potential” (did they not see the aforementioned DARK PHOENIX).The film is currently set for an April 2020 theatrical release, but, as far as we know, still requires some reshoots. If this is indeed true then do not expect the mouse to enthusiastically  shell out any money into having this happen.

As far as the merc with a mouth, goes Disney is still said to be “grappling” with how to integrate DEADPOOL into the MCU, and is trying to find a way for the character to “move seamlessly between AVENGERS spinoffs and bloody, profane stand-alone adventures.”

DEADPOOL Will Stay R-Rated With Disney

Image result for deadpool

A major worry can seemingly be put to rest after the announcement that Disney CEO Bob Iger made during their first quarter earnings call. That worry being that Deadpool will allowed to remain as an R-rated property after the Disney acquisition of the Marvel properties owned by Fox.

This could be due to the fact that the first two films made over $1.5 billion between them.so there really isnt reason as to  why Disney would need to rush into heading down the PG-13 route despite the popularity of Once Upon a Deadpool last year.

Iger  however cautioned that any future Deadpool movies would be required to be “carefully branding [R-rated films]…so we’re not in any way confusing the consumer.” If you need a translator the beautiful Marvel Studios intro you seen on the beginning of MCU films will more than likely not apply to the merc with a mouth and he may not be able to join the MCU franchise.

Kevin Feige Confirmed To Oversee Disney X-Men Films

Ladies and gentlemen it is now pretty set and concrete that once taboo word of “mutant” will not be forbidden anymore, as the X-men will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the X-Men will fall directly under the supervision of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Iger stated, “It only makes sense. I want tot be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know,” he went on to say, “It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

When Iger was asked a question regarding the merger that many people were curious about and thats the inclusion of Deadpool in the Avengers, he said, ““Kevin’s got a lot of ideas, I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”

This news is going to fire up many fans especially as we get closer and closer to Avengers 4. Does this mean we get a special post-credit scene? We shall see.

Ryan Reynolds Share First Set Photo From Deadpool 2

deadpool-2-slice-1

There’s close to a year to go before the Merc with the mouth takes over movie screens again in Deadpool 2. However, that doesnt mean that the anti-hero will not be giving us cool little tid bits, easter eggs and set photos like this first one from its star Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool in full costume is hanging out in front of the X-men mansion.

Now even though we have gotten so much great news already with Deadpool 2 such as bringing a pair of famous comics characters into view: Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beets (Atlanta) as Domino. After the surreal success of the first film 20th Century Fox no doubt increased the budget this time around. We are not sure if director David Leitch and Reynolds will be including actual X-Men cameos this time around (aside Colossus who will be returning), or if they’re gonna maintain the scrappy spirit of the first movie. What we do know is that Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult are in the midst of negotiations to return for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and that film is scheduled to be in production at the same time as Deadpool 2, so it’s possible that some cast crossover could occur. If anything just doing something silly in the spirit of the film or have them actually dealing with their issues in their film would be amazing.

Let the speculation and anticipation continue. For a while now we’ve been hearing about Ryan Reynolds personal campaign to get Hugh Jackman to sign onto a Deadpool/Wolverine buddy film. But now we don’t know if this is anything but it has us here at the Trusty Sidekick kind of excited.

Ryan Reynolds posted a photo to his official instagram along with the aforementioned Jackman and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan. Could Brosnan be Cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel? Could Jackman actually have signed on? We would like to know your thoughts.
