The casting is ramping up with Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN. Of course we know that Robert Pattinson will be the caped crusader, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and most recently Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth with Colin Farrell as The Penguin. But now another name has entered into the fold, this time it is Juilliard grad Jayme Lawson.

The announcement which was first broken by Collider.com says that Lawson is a relatively unknown to Hollywood given that she does not even yet have an IMDB page. She just recently graduated from the famed Juilliard academy and while there has  played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet as well as the title role in Hamlet, and she has also played Lady Macbeth onstage. She also stars as the Lady in Red in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf, which is now playing at the Public Theater for the first time since its premiere in 1976.

A big noted item is that Lawson’s role is currently being kept under wraps, so it safe to assume that the speculations will being to run rampant. the biggest one is that Lawson may be cast as the daughter of Wright’s Commissioner Gordon, Barbara. Which many comic book fans know that Barbara Gordon eventually becomes the masked superhero known as Batgirl.

It is worth noting that is has been mentioned that the potential Batgirl movie is expected to tie in directly with THE BATMAN so here may be the official connection.

Stay tuned to the resident super villain, Jay Washington and The Mad Titan Podcast as more news on this as it comes in.

THE BATMAN is set to hit theaters June 25, 2021

VENOM 2 Adds Another Villain To Give The Anti-Hero Trouble

Venom

We already know that Carnage played by Woody Harrelson will be the main villain in the Andy Serkis directed sequel VENOM 2. Now we are finding out that symbiote wielding serial killer will have company.

Shriek from the comics has been incorporated into the plot of the Venom sequel which due in theaters on Oct. 2, 2020. This makes perfect sense because of Shriek’s history  as the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of serial killer Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage. It will be interesting to see the two of them torment Tom Hardy’s anti-hero, Venom

A little bit of backstory on Shriek she was a drug dealer named Frances Barrison  who became the volatile Shriek after severe trauma allow her latent mutant powers to emerge. In the comics, those powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others.

SWAMP THING Cancelled By The DC Universe

swamp-thing-logo

After only airing one episode of the DC Universe streaming platform, SWAMP THING has been cancelled by the streamer.

The potential reason for the cancellation is that the DC Universe is being reevaluated following the completion of AT&T acquisition of Time Warner as WarnerMedia has put an emphasis on the launch of a new streaming platform. With that reevaluation there have been questions how DC Universe fits into those plans.

Swamp Thing was the third live-action series to launch on DC Universe, following Titans, which has been renewed for a second season, and Doom Patrol, which is awaiting word. Upcoming on the service is new drama series Stargirl.

Written by Mark Verheiden and It co-writer Gary Dauberman, Swamp Thing centered on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Marais, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
